Lee Lamb, President
As the President of Ka Ulukoa, Lee Lamb brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering dedication to the advancement of youth volleyball in Hawaii. With his visionary leadership and deep-rooted passion for the sport, Lee has been instrumental in guiding Ka Ulukoa to new heights since its inception in 2007.
Lee's journey in the world of volleyball began as a personal passion, which he transformed into a mission to empower young athletes. His co-founding of Ka Ulukoa was a significant step towards realizing this goal, creating an environment where young players could hone their skills, compete at the highest levels, and develop a deep love for the game.
In 2020, Lee expanded his impact on the athletic community by launching ProspectsHI. This venture further exemplified his commitment to offering comprehensive and advanced training opportunities to young athletes. Under his leadership, ProspectsHI has become a beacon for aspiring volleyball players, providing them with the resources to excel both on and off the court.
Outside his professional endeavors, Lee is a devoted family man, cherishing time spent with his wife, Veronica, and two children, Alexis and Alika. He advocates fostering a well-rounded understanding of the world in his children, which mirrors his professional objectives. He is a firm believer in nurturing young individuals to be assertive, compassionate, and critically thinking leaders.
As President of Ka Ulukoa, Lee continues to be a driving force in the volleyball community. His forward-thinking approach and commitment to excellence ensure that Ka Ulukoa not only produces top-tier athletes but also shapes them into responsible and impactful members of society.
Taylor Souza, Treasurer
Taylor Souza, a Ka Ulukoa alumna and 2016 graduate of Le Jardin Academy, has established herself as a multifaceted professional in the realm of athletics and academia. Currently completing her PhD in Biology at Stanford University, Taylor also serves as the Athletics Manager, co-Varsity Head Girls Volleyball Coach, and Intermediate Boys Volleyball Coach at Le Jardin Academy. Her collegiate career includes three years of lettering at Linfield University, where she graduated in 2019.
Beyond her roles on the court and in the classroom, Taylor is a dedicated coach and member of the Board of Directors, embodying her commitment to the transformative power of athletics in the lives of young people. With a passion for coaching and athletics, she aspires to forge a career that blends her love for sports, education, and community impact.
Keala Kaio-Perez, Secretary
Keala Kaio-Perez, a valued member of the Ka Ulukoa Board of Directors, exemplifies a profound dedication to volleyball and youth sports development. Her journey, marked by significant achievements in both playing and coaching, aligns seamlessly with our mission at Ka Ulukoa to nurture young talent and foster a deep love for volleyball.
Keala's coaching career is highlighted by her roles as assistant and head coach for 18U international teams at the Global Challenge in Pula, Croatia, in 2022 and 2023. Her leadership in these positions has been instrumental in elevating the teams to compete internationally. At Le Jardin Academy, she has been a key figure in the girls' varsity volleyball program since 2019, serving as both assistant coach and co-head coach. Beyond coaching, Keala contributes to the educational community as a staff member at Le Jardin Academy's lower school, positively impacting students' lives.
Her collegiate volleyball career at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) was distinguished by numerous accolades. As a senior, Keala earned D2CCA Second Team All-West Region and First Team All-GNAC honors, becoming the first Seawolf libero to achieve this distinction. Her record-breaking performance in aces and digs was crucial in UAA's advancement to the NCAA Tournament. During her junior year, she played a vital role in a team that won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference title and reached the NCAA Div. II National Title Match.
Before UAA, at Western Nebraska Community College, she was named Libero of the Year at the Region 9 Championships, underscoring her early promise and skill.
Keala's athletic journey began in high school, where she excelled in volleyball and basketball, earning multiple honors and serving as team captain. Her leadership and athletic prowess were evident from an early age, laying the foundation for her future successes.
Keala believes in the balance between education and sports, advocating for the importance of staying in school while pursuing athletic passions. This philosophy aligns with Ka Ulukoa's values and is a testament to her approach to life and sport, characterized by being outgoing, independent, and confident.
Keala Kaio-Perez's dedication to volleyball and her insightful contributions make her an invaluable asset to the Ka Ulukoa Board of Directors. Her experience and passion continue to play a significant role in our mission of promoting volleyball and developing young athletes in Hawaii.
Gennaro Hawkins, Board Member
Gennarro "Geno"Hawkins, a proud native of Chicago, Illinois, embarked on a remarkable journey that led him to become an integral part of the Ka Ulukoa Volleyball Club family. With a passion for volleyball and a dedication to fostering diversity and inclusion in the sport, Coach Geno has made significant contributions to both his community and the volleyball world.
Coach Geno's journey began when he joined the military one year after completing his high school education in 2001. Stationed in the picturesque landscapes of Hawaii, he discovered his love for volleyball and soon embarked on a coaching career that has spanned over six years.
His dedication and commitment to the sport were recognized in 2020 when he was honored with the prestigious AVCA Diversity Award, a testament to his tireless efforts in promoting diversity within the volleyball community. In the same year, he was selected for the esteemed Big 12 Reach and Teach Diversity Mentorship Program, further solidifying his reputation as a champion of inclusivity.
Coach Geno's coaching experience extends across various levels, including international competitions, USAV High Performance, and leadership as a club head coach and high school coach. His passion for developing young talent and helping aspiring student-athletes find their path to collegiate volleyball opportunities led him to co-found ProspectsHI alongside Lee Lamb.
Currently, Coach Geno serves as the 18s Head Coach 16s Assistant and also Recruiting Coordinator for Ka Ulukoa Volleyball Club. His outstanding coaching skills and unwavering commitment to his players have paved the way for several athletes to secure college placements, ranging from Division 1 to JUCO levels.
In 2019, Coach Geno's coaching prowess was showcased when he served as an assistant coach with the Aloha Region at the International Tournament, guiding the team to a Bronze Medal in the Rebisco Volleyball League Champions. He also lent his expertise as an assistant coach to the Aloha Region Girls International Select Team, achieving another Bronze Medal in their competition that same year.
Coach Geno's passion for volleyball, commitment to diversity, and dedication to developing the next generation of athletes make him an invaluable asset to the Ka Ulukoa Volleyball Club family.
Larry Tuileta Sr., Board Member
Larry Tuileta Sr. brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to youth development in sports to his role as a Board Member at Ka Ulukoa. With a background that blends athletic coaching, community engagement, and business acumen, Larry is a vital asset to our organization.
Larry's journey in athletics began as a player, where he developed a profound understanding of sports, particularly volleyball. This experience laid the foundation for his later roles as a coach and mentor. His coaching style, characterized by a focus on skill development, teamwork, and personal growth, has positively impacted numerous young athletes in Hawai'i.
In addition to his sports-related endeavors, Larry has a strong track record in business management. This experience is invaluable to Ka Ulukoa as we navigate the complexities of running a successful and sustainable youth sports organization. His insights into operational efficiency, financial management, and strategic planning help guide our decisions and growth.
Larry's commitment to the community is evident through his involvement in various local initiatives aimed at promoting sports and healthy lifestyles among youth. His work extends beyond the court, as he is actively involved in initiatives that foster educational and personal development opportunities for young people.
